It has been one of my concern about Google+. Why the hell Google has a product without a nice search function? Isn’t Google a search engine company?
I found a way to overcome this:
With the following trick you can add the search function back to Google+ in Chrome. Firstly, go to settings (here is the shortcut), and add the following entries:

Search Streams (Posts)
- Column 1: G+ Posts
- Column 2: gpost
- Column 3: {google:baseURL}search?q=site:plus.google.com inurl:posts/* %s
Search Profiles
- Column 1: G+ Profiles
- Column 2: gprofile
- Column 3: {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&tbs=prfl:e
After this is done, you can search in the Chrome address bar (omnibox) by typing “gpost” or “gprofile”, then press [tab] key and enter the keyword to search.
